Helping Out Your Favorite Bloggers...

My good friend Shelly, over at Coupon Teacher, did a fabulous post about helping out your favorite blogger (regardless of who it might be)! I just thought I'd pass in on to you guys, because it's definitely worth reading. You can go HERE to read it.

I am not just a blogger. I am a blog reader, as well! I read over 50 blogs on a daily basis. All of the things Shelly lists are things that I used to never do, but now always do. Why? Because now I'm on the other side of it and see it from the blogger's perspective.

I never realized how much it meant to a blogger when readers comment on posts...

I never realized that e-mails *mean the world* to a blogger...

I never realized that bloggers care about and are very interested in readers sending them deals!

Interaction - it's the key. I love blogging, but what would blogging be without YOU? I most love blogging on the days when I get many comments on posts, personal e-mails from readers, and interaction on my Facebook or Twitter pages! When there is no interaction, bloggers feel like they are writing for nobody - to an empty space. It's quite depressing!

You may think you're just a "little reader" in the huge blogging world, but I promise you're not. Never think that way. Readers are the most important part of blogging. Without readers, blogging is pointless!

So go leave your favorite blogger some LOVE, whether it's me or somebody else out there!

I love all of you! =)

Just To Let You Know!

Few things I thought I'd let you know before I get to bed:

1. The Scrubbing Bubbles deal at Publix is even better than I thought, if you have multiple coupons to purchase at least 3 of them. You can submit for the SC Johnson Rebate, which means a great moneymaker!

2. Target Deals and another great giveaway are coming tomorrow evening!

Have a great night!!!

I Haven't Left You, I Promise =)

Sorry for the lack of posts over the past 2 days. My life has been a whirlwind. First of all, we renewed our lease this week, so we were busy with that. Then, last night we went on a family outing to a baseball game with my husband, in-laws, and all my brothers and sisters. We saw an awesome fireworks show and Mark Schultz in concert. It was a lot of fun, but I didn't get home until quite late. Life has just been piling up, too. So much to do, so little time.

Then the real kicker. Thursday night I was extremely excited because I almost had my new site up and ready to go...until I found out that the site was basically not working in Internet Explorer for some reason. Needless to say I had a crying fest really awful night. So I have been dealing with that for the past 2 days, contacting support, crying some more, etc.

To be quite honest, it really took a toll on me. Last night I was considering just quitting blogging all together. That's how upset this entire thing has made me. Something you might not realize is that a blogger's life is extremely stressful and difficult. It's just hard. You put in hours upon hours working on the blog, trying to make it the best it can be. At least a couple times a week, you get extremely nasty comments from readers that make you so upset that you just lose all your motivation for blogging. Not to mention all of the behind the scenes work that it requires. Oh, and we're supposed to have lives...I forgot about that one!

So yeah, luckily I have a great support system of bloggers (especially my best blogging buddy Rose) who have been there to encourage me and not let me give up. And even more...I am so grateful to have such awesome readers. Any time I get pushed to the limit and want to just throw my hands up in surrender, I remember all of you. I remember all of the e-mails from people who have been blessed as a result of this blog. I remember how many encouraging e-mails I get, which make all of those nasty and rude e-mails worth it!

I love you guys. This morning my sister is taking me out for a late birthday surprise, but I'll be back this afternoon to play catch up! Have a great day!

Quick Reminders!

  • Don't forget that there is NOT a new Publix ad tomorrow! The current one will run through next Wednesday!
Have a great night! I might be MIA just a bit, because...drum roll please...the new site is almost done!!! I've been working frantically! =)

Now for dinner...yummy Bow Tie Pasta Medley!

Saving On Printer Ink

Many of you have e-mailed me about your printer crises. Basically, you're saving tons of money with all these great coupons you're printing from the computer...but you're spending a lot of money on printer ink!

I have some helpful advice for you, and I hope to do an informative post on this topic in the near future. For now, I wanted to let you know about a website I just found out about. It's new to me, but maybe you've heard of it. It's call InkOrbit.

Supposedly, you can save up to 85% off your ink cartridges! I checked it out, and it looks like the more you buy, the more you save. So when you buy 5 cartridges in bulk, you can save A LOT. I looked up my printer, and it wasn't really worth it for me. My printer's cartridges are very inexpensive to begin with (we planned it that way when we went printer-hunting).

But if you're looking for a way to save on printer ink, it's definitely a website worth checking out!

Happy Printer Ink Savings! And hopefully I'll be able to bring you some more tips on this topic very soon!

What About You: Do you know anything about InkOrbit?

*This post contains affiliate links. When you click on a link, I might earn a small amount of money. However, I would never promote anything that I do not find helpful to you or that I would not use myself! You can be sure that this blog will always be in the best interest of the reader.

Hope you had a fantastic Easter!

Sorry for the lack of posts over the weekend. I was taking some time to unwind, relax, hang out with family, and focus on my Savior.

I hope you enjoyed a beautiful Easter weekend! I know I definitely did!

The CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid deals are posted. The new Publix ad starts tomorrow, and I am going to try to get those deals up tomorrow night after work. Don't worry, though - you have 10 days for this ad once again!

Everything should be back into the full swing of things tomorrow!

What About You: How did you celebrate your Easter weekend?

Changing up the time on e-mail subscriptions...

I know there are quite a few of you who subscribe to this blog by e-mail. Just wanted to let you know that I've changed up the time at which the e-mail will be going out each day. It was originally going out at 4 pm, which wasn't working because I do most of my blogging late at night after 4 pm. Therefore, the e-mails you were receiving were basically an entire day behind.

The e-mails will now be going out around midnight each night. This way, when you wake up and check your e-mail in the morning, you will have all of the newest deals from the night before! I think this will work a lot better, and keep it a little more up to date.

Of course, the only way to really keep up with the latest and hottest deals is to visit this actual blog or subscribe in a reader. Or, if you're a Facebook and Twitter person, you can follow me that way for real-time updates as well.

The downside to e-mail subscriptions is that they only go out once a day and aren't real-time. Some of the hottest deals only last 1 or 2 hours, and if you're only checking your e-mail, you'll definitely miss them.

What About You: Let me know what you think about the new time for e-mails! Thanks!

One Reason Being Frugal Is FUN!

If you haven't figured it out by now, being frugal can truly be a BLAST! Saving money, bargain hunting, couponing, and being frugal are fun for many different reasons.

One of the top reasons, though? You get to try new, expensive products for FREE or practically free! Here are some free or close-to-free products I'm trying out for the first time this week (pictured above):

Chocolate Cheerios - I snagged these for $.50 a box at Publix this week! These are $3.99/box regularly priced!

Scubbing Bubbles Power Sprayer - I got these for FREE at Publix this week! I can't wait to try these cleaners out. They almost claim to be "magic" like you see on television, the ones that you just spray and don't even have to wipe? Ha! We'll see. These were originally $7.99 each! I can not imagine paying that much for a cleaner. It's definitely worth a try for free, though!

Pantene Nature Fusion Shampoo - I received this full-sized freebie today in my mailbox from Vocal Point! Woo Hoo! Plus, it contained (3) $2/1 coupons with it.

Olay Effects body wash and Burt's Bees toothpaste - Two freebie samples that I received in my mailbox today! Think trial and travel sized freebie items aren't worth grabbing? Think again!

Saveur cooking magazine - I requested a free subscription to this magazine a while back. Just got my first issue in my mailbox today! I'm very excited. I love cooking magazines.

Trying new products for free is definitely a perk to being frugal...

What About You: Do you enjoy trying out new products for free?

Just A Reminder!

Just a friendly reminder...

The Publix sale ad this week will extend through Saturday, 4/3. They are closed on Easter Sunday, 4/4. The new ad will start on Monday, 4/5.

It will be nice to have a few extra days to get those last-minute deals! I'll have the new deals up later this weekend, probably.

Extreme Couponing -- How Far Is TOO Far???

About a week ago, I received an e-mail from a faithful reader. She gave me a link to a blogger who bought over $1000 (yes, thousand) worth of groceries for less than $20. She posed a very valid question to me -- "Will I ever see THESE kind of savings here in Jacksonville?"

My answer? Yes, it's definitely possible to spend pennies and save hundreds or even thousands of dollars ... But only if you are prepared to do a number of things that, quite honestly, I don't really personally believe in doing as a couponer.

Couponing is great, and all of you know how much I love it. And we all live for seeing those savings on the bottom of our receipts. But how far is too far, really?

In my opinion, here is when you know you've taken couponing just a little too far:
  • You're spending a good portion of your day-to-day life going dumpster diving, going through other people's recycle bins, or paying quite a bit of money out of pocket to collect 10 to 20 copies of the Sunday coupon inserts. (20 newspapers would cost $40 - that's almost my entire grocery budget each week.) In order to have insane savings, you have to literally have this many inserts.
  • You're running out to buy printer ink and paper every week, to re-fill the 5 printers of the 5 different computers you have (so that you can print 10 coupons - print limit of 2 per computer!). Let's think about the costs of this!
  • You have decided against a well-rounded, wholesome grocery trip each week that includes plenty of ingredients for meals, fruits, and veggies (of course, in addition to all of the pantry, canned, and frozen items that you get for free after coupons). Rather, you will now only buy items that are either free or generate overage. In this way, you are able to rejoice in seeing on your receipt that you spent pennies or a couple dollars in order to save hundreds of dollars. That's nice and all, but what are you going to eat this week???
  • You're constantly fighting with cashiers and managers, demanding your way, and basically giving couponers a terrible name. (Which in effect makes it awful for the rest of us out there. Why do you think there are such strict coupon policies at some of these stores?)
  • You're insisting that a store manager PAYS YOU CASH MONEY for the groceries you just bought. *Not Cool* I don't know how much I can stress this. People, if you are lucky enough to shop at a grocery store that allows coupon overage, at least be kind enough to grab extra groceries to cover it. Don't allow your bill to go negative and then demand to be paid. That's ridiculous and absurd. Think I'm kidding? People do it all the time.
  • You're literally wiping out entire shelves of items, just so you can gain overage or stock up on a year's supply of free ketchup. Again, not cool! Ever think about saving some for the rest of us eager couponers out there? I have both seen and heard of couponers who will ask a manager to go to the back and bring out every crate of tomato sauce that they have - all 200 cans. Again, come on. To me, that is not being an ethical couponer. Help out your fellow couponer! Leave some for everybody else. I don't know about you, but nothing is more frustrating than driving up to CVS or Walgreens only to find that the shelf is completely empty of what you were planning on getting for free that week with coupons. Remember that awesome FREE Purex deal at Walgreens recently? This blogger that my reader sent me a link to...yeah...she bought TWENTY bottles of it. Needless to say, she wiped out shelves at 3 stores to get the deals, and left them empty for the rest of the couponers out there! Be considerate...
The bottom line for me? Couponing has been a BLESSING in my life. God has provided for our needs through couponing. Abusing it in the ways mentioned above is not being a good steward of your money, but that's just my opinion.

It's nice to see that savings to spending ratio on your receipt, but abusing the system is not what it's all about. Use your coupons wisely. Discover your priorities and what matters most to you.

What matters most to me is saving money with coupons, having a decent savings to spending ratio, staying under my designated grocery budget, getting most of my household items for free at the drug stores, giving away as much as I can to others, and planning nutritious/wholesome meals every week. If I'm doing that, I'm okay. =)

Plus...aren't coupons supposed to save TIME??? When it's becoming time-consuming and making life harder, I would say it's time to re-evaluate!

Want a good example for comparisons? Nightline just recently did a contest with 2 extreme couponers. They gave each of them $50 to get as much as they possibly could with the money and coupons. In this video, I think Jill has a pretty good idea of using coupons how they're meant to be used. I have nothing against Nathan, but I think he's taking it just a little too far. Jill knows she could just as easily do what Nathan is doing, I'm sure. She is simply choosing to use coupons wisely, though. Notice the wholesome, nutritious, and even organic products she has in her cart. She's buying what she needs, and stocking up on the close-to-freebie items (but not in excess). She spends a good amount, and has a great savings ratio!

I said one thing...I meant another!

Remember a while back when I said I would have my new site up and running within a week or two? Well, I'm sure you've guessed by now that things have changed.

Just wanted to let you know that the new site IS coming. It's just taking much longer than I ever anticipated! Starting a brand new site is really difficult, and there is so much work involved. If I had all day every day to work on it, that'd be one thing. Since I work during the day, though, I really only have weekday nights and weekends. Weekday nights are filled to the brim. I can barely keep up with my regular blogging as it is! So I am basically only able to work on the new site over the weekends. Needless to say, it's coming around very slowlyyyyy.

So the new site is still on its way, but I'm having to take my time with it. It will be here, eventually. For now, I hope you can continue to enjoy this blog!

Thanks for your understanding and patience, everybody!

Happy First Day Of Spring!

Happy Spring, everybody! I hope you have a beautiful Saturday. As for me down here in Florida, it is one of the prettiest days we've seen in awhile! It's been unusually cold for us here, so the warm weather is really nice!

My hubby and I area heading out for a day at the beach. It will be very nice to get away and have some relaxing time together.

If you're out and about, be sure to pick up your free Rita's Italian Ice. And many Bruster's locations are doing their PJ day today where you get free ice cream!

Kmart Coupon Problems...

Well guys, I have some bad news...

It seems that the Kmart coupon that I posted yesterday might be fraudulent...

Basically, people who have tried using this coupon at Kmart have run into problems. Managers have given the following explanations for why they can not take this coupon:

1. It is fraudulent and was never meant to be posted (then why was it posted on the K-mart website?! Seems totally legit to me!)

2. It is only valid in specific locations (why does it say on the coupon valid at all locations then?)

3. It is only valid for those people who received it by e-mail.

I'm not really sure what the deal is with the coupon, but I'm going to go ahead and say that the Kmart coupon is a dead deal.

I try my best to never post fraudulent deals. There are many deals that I don't post for that very reason. If I'm the slightest bit skeptical, I don't post it. This seemed totally legit, though, because it was posted on the Kmart website, had an expiration date, a bar code...everything checked out perfectly! Some people even called corporate and they said it was legitimate in the beginning. Weird! Regardless, I apologize for the misinformation.

Just to be on the safe side, and to be ethical, I'm going to say you probably shouldn't try using this coupon at any store since it has been labeled as fraudulent by Kmart corporate now. They have e-mailed all stores and told them not to take it.

Honestly, I think they just decided that it was too awesome of a coupon for so many people to get a hold of. They definitely have the right to pull it, but stores should think about all of the blogs and forums out there before they post such an amazing coupon...only to then tell us it is fraudulent!

That's my rant for the day. =) Sorry for the let down!

My fingers have been typing and typing away since last night. I thought I'd have the Publix deals up this morning, but there are still a final few things to do (like add the prices and best deals). I'll have them up almost as soon as I get home from work this afternoon.

Until then, have a great day!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Here is a video to get you in Irish spirits. I am obsessed with River Dance. I've seen them live twice -- totally worth the money if they ever come to your town on tour! The live music is incredible, not to mention the singing and dancing.

Hope you wore your green today and didn't get pinched! =)

Have a great night! My hub and I are celebrating with a relaxing evening at home, homemade pizza, and of course...a Star Trek. =)
