Super Savings Saturday!

This week's grocery trip was much better than last week's. I was much more organized. I bought quite a few items I normally don't buy. For example, I bought the pre-packaged Aunt Jemima waffle/pancake mix, Eggo waffles, Velveeta shells n cheese cups, and Ritz Crackerfuls. My motto is to buy it if it's free, no matter what! You can always donate it. The Crackerfuls, Velveeta cups, and Eggo waffles were completely free. The pancake mix was extremely cheap. I usually make almost all our bread items from scratch, but my husband likes to have quick and easy frozen items while he's juggling the two jobs he has. So even though it's not extremely healthy, I do buy frozen items just to have on hand when we're pressed for time. Anyways, here's how the transaction went down:

What I Bought:

2 packages Eggo waffles
2 packages Birds Eye Steamfresh vegetables
2 Aunt Jemima syrups
2 boxes Orville Redenbacher popcorn
2 boxes Ritz crackers (whole wheat)
2 boxes Aunt Jemima pancake/waffle mix
4 Yoplait Yo-Plus yogurts (4 packs)
2 Quaker Oats Old Fashioned Oats (been waiting 6 months for this!)
2 Pompeian olive oils
2 bags Purina One cat food
2 Smart Balance butter spreads
2 Smart Balance butter sticks (4 packs)
1 container of salt (we were totally out!)
2 Velveeta cups
1 package walnuts
2 Covergirl mascaras
4 Fancy Feast cat appetizers
2 Glade soy candles (had a raincheck)
1 Sabra hummus (yum! awesome deal!)
2 boxes Ritz Crackerful snacks
1 green bell pepper
3 limes
1 garlic bulb
1 red bell pepper
2 royal gala apples (our favorite)
1 onion
1 whole pineapple
2 free reusable bags (not pictured. oops!)

Total before sales and coupons: $150.91
Total saved from sales: $56.68
Manufacturer coupons used: $41.16
Store/Competitor coupons used: $20.49
Total amount saved: $118.33
Total paid after all sales and coupons: $32.58

You can see my CVS trip for the week here.
You can see my Target trip for the week here.

Weekly Totals: $57.30
Publix: $32.58
CVS: $12.90
Target: $11.82

***Our weekly shopping budget is $50/week for groceries, toiletries, and all household supplies. We are $7.30 over this week, and we were $12.11 over last week. The week before that we were $1.48 UNDER budget. The first two weeks of the month we only spent between $20-$30 on groceries each week. So this $19. 41 overage in the past two weeks was compensated for in the beginning of the month. Therefore, we stayed under our $50/week grocery budget for the month of September!

We use the envelope method, which I find works amazingly well. I plan on sharing about it in the next week or two. I will also be doing a post about our $20/week grocery challenge, so stay tuned for that!

What about you? How did you do this week? Share your deals and scenarios below! If you are new to saving money, I invite you to e-mail me with a picture and explanation of a great deal you got, so that I can share it with all of the readers! We're all in this together! =)

not sure if you reminded everyone to pick up the free $100.00 coupon book form the pharmacy. Just tons of product coupons. Could be good for future sales. Did your ad in florida advertise this during this week's ad?
Just checking!!!!

Yeah, they did advertise it, but don't you have to get the flu shot in order to get it? Or can you just grab them off the pharmacy counter? Thanks!
