Getting Thin In 2010 -- My New Plan + Jillian Michaels Workout DVD Giveaway!

You've seen me determined to lose weight, you've seen me struggle, and you've seen me fail miserably. Now you get to see me start over again, because I'm not giving up!

Bottom line? I made excuses, I stopped working out, and I started eating more. Now it's time to get back on track. I can do this (and so can you, for those of you who have been following along)!

My goal is to lose 25 pounds and/or one pant size. My plan is simple, and it comes down to 3 things:

1. Pray about it. Nothing is too small for God. He sees that this is making me extremely unhappy, bitter towards others, and a miserable person on both the inside and out. I think that losing weight is one step in the right direction towards living a happier life. Plus, my body is a temple of God, and I feel that it is an act of worship to respect my body by eating healthy and exercising. I want to take care of the healthy body God has blessed me with. On this new plan, I am making God the center of my weight loss efforts.

2. Eat less. Control portion sizes. Get my daily nutritional servings in each day. Splurge when I need to so that I don't give in to monstrous cravings that make me blow my diet and give up. I have been following Weight Watchers since I was in high school, and it has always worked for me. I love their plan, and it's what I follow. I do it on my own at home without paying for the meetings. I like it because it's not a diet - it's a lifestyle change.

3. Move more. Many of you know that I love Zumba. Well, I'm changing it up a bit for a couple of reasons. First of all, we are most likely going to be moving into a new place within a few months, so I don't want to be depending on something that might not be available at the new place we live. Right now, Zumba is down the road. I can walk there. It might not be as accessible and convenient once we move. So I want something that I can stick with, no matter what changes life brings. Also, money is pretty tight. Seeing as we made the decision to raise our grocery budget and we ended up NOT switching to Metro PCS (long story), we really can't afford the extra expense of Zumba each month. I sure am going to miss it, though...

So how am I going to move more? Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred workout DVD. I did it a while back, and I really liked it. So I think I am going to give it a go again. When I did it before, I was a little frustrated because I did not see the scale move. However, I did lose 2 inches in all my body measurements after doing it! Plus, I felt great. I was toned, in shape, and had lots of energy at all times. I also like it because it's only 20 minutes. I can fit it into my daily routine, no problem. Finally, I can do it at home. Very convenient.

So here's to praying about it, eating less, and moving more! To kick off my new plan, I've decided to do a giveaway! I am giving away 2 copies of Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred DVD. As much as I really don't like Jillian Michaels (especially with some of her shady endorsements and weight-loss products recently), I must say I love this DVD. I've seen it work for many people. My friend at work has lost almost FOUR pant sizes from doing this workout for about a year now. She looks amazing! Don't get discouraged about what the scale says, though. The scale says she hasn't lost much, but I would say four pant sizes is an incredible accomplishment!!!

So do you want to give the 30 Day Shred a try? If so, here's how to enter the giveaway:

1. Comment on this post with a weight loss or healthy lifestyle goal of yours.

2. Subscribe to this blog by e-mail or in a reader. Leave a comment on this post telling me that you are a subscriber.

3. Become a fan on Facebook. Leave a comment on this post telling me that you are a fan.

4. Follow me on Twitter. Leave a comment on this post telling me that you are a follower.

5. Grab my button or add me to your blogroll. Leave a comment with a link to your blog where the button or blogroll is located.

You have up to 5 different ways to enter, so everybody has 5 chances to win a workout DVD! If you are already a subscriber, Facebook fan, Twitter follower, or have me on your blogroll...just say so in your comments!

This giveaway will end next Sunday night, March 28th, at 10 pm EST. At that time I will choose two winners at random! Good luck!

Meagan, I have to first say good luck!! I know how hard it can be to lose weight and keep it off. I lost 30 pounds and I have been battling with keeping that last 5 off, I gain and I lose, the pattern just continues!

My best tips are eating healthy, watching portions, no fast food, and staying active. Even just walking every day for about 20 minutes helped me shed pounds.

Now I have a goal of losing 10 more pounds before my wedding so I would love this DVD!

Good luck, you can do it! Keeping God in the forefront is an awesome idea. I love the thought that keeping healthy is a form of worship!
I had my 3rd baby 6 months ago and am struggling to get 10-15 pounds off. I am also raising my 13 month old nephew, so I have 4 boys under five years old and I'm exhausted all the time! I need more energy to keep up with all the kids, and I need to get healthy. I think the Shred is a good solution for me since its only 20 minutes long. I've been meaning to look into it, but hey - a giveaway is even better! :)

What a great give-away! My best tips are keeping a food diary to find out where your week spots are, eating healthy and to work out 4-5 days a week. For cravings, I eat Stoneyfield Farms Chocolate Underground Yogurt. It really helps satisfy my sweet tooth.

Thanks for the opportunity and best of luck in your efforts to meet your fitness goals.

I love this work out. I did it before my wedding and felt great! I used the one on comcast, but since we switched providers, I'm unable to use the on demand anymore. I REALLY need to focus (have been trying to focus) on core stability. The stronger I can get my core, the less back pain I have. Plus, when I do my exercises religiously I end up getting toned all over! It's a win-win situation but I just can't bring myself to do them every day!!

I too am struggling this year. I started off pumped up about losing the weight I need to and getting in shape. Unfortunatly, I had problems with my knee and that was all it took to become VERY unmotivated to continue with my plan. My knee is almost better and this be an awesome way to kick start myself again and get it done. Thanks for all you do!

This year has been my Year of Improvement. I quit smoking, am living more frugally, but it's the weight loss that's really got me stumped.

20 minutes is about as many minutes as I can find to exercise, but I know in my heart that I've got to stop making excuses and just do it! I want to lose ten pounds. And then another ten pounds. And then another...it's easier to think of it that way as opposed to the full number of pounds I need to get rid of!

I lost about 17 lbs last year on the Gazelle. I got it for $20 on Craigslist and even got it delivered to my house. I do it everyday while watching something I really like on TV. Somedays I alternate instead and walk. This is my quiet time where I listen to praise music or a sermon that I havent heard, I talk and listen to God and he has blessed that time with fruit, Weight LOSS!

My new goals is to loose somemore weight and maintain. With couponing I have been able to afford healthier foods and that I wouldnt have been able to before.

They love that I shared you with them so THANK YOU!!! I have battled weight issues my entire life and I have been married now for 10 years tomorrow actually and we have 5 children.I am a fulltime student in school and I am struggling to find the time to workout actually drive somewhere to work out so well I don't but I do try and watch what I eat(sometimes I fail like now in girlscout cookie season) I am struggling but trying I would love to join your challenge whether I win the DVD or not, I want to feel like I can really be honest about what I am eating with someone and celebrate when I am doing the right path and sometimes when I am not. I would like for once not to feel like the lifeguards are looking around for the net when they see me coming to say they caught the latest whale! I hate that I look like this and 194.4lbs is the worst I have been since having kids. I am drinking alot of water and I take a water bottle with lemons in it so that when I am asked if I want a drink I have the willpower to say "No thank you I have something already." they say 8-10 a day keeps the trainer away! -So thank you from Jennifer R. innovativedesserts@comcast.net

Hi Meagan,

I plan on reducing portions and making better food choices, particularly making smart exchanges. Instead of potato chips, I'm hung up on the 100 cal kettle corn.
I have lost 34 lbs so far using Weight Watchers since my daughter was born 2 years ago. This is the most weight I have ever lost, but I still have 60 more to go. I know I can do it, but it's hard to find time to exercise with a 2 year old and being a teacher. Life is super busy. I would really appreciate the DVD and hopefully will get a chance to use it to meet my goal.

I think you are so right to include prayer in your plan - God wants us to ask for help however big or small the issue/problem is. I have a lot of weight to loss. I have just started walking and would love to include this DVD workout in my moving more goal. Along with moving more I am TRYING to cut down on my sugar intake and adding more WATER.

Ever since I stepped foot here in the US, I gained 60 lbs. I don't know why lol too much Ice cream. I am about to try the weight watchers program so hopefully it helps, I think the workout DVD will help also with my attempt to lose this 60 pounds.

Good luck with your plans...I need to do the same for a reunion this summer. Increased activity should help with the weather warming up!

I know I am too late, but I still wanted to share. I have about 60 lbs of weight I would like to use, I would still be considered overweight, but at least I will no longer be obese. Since I had the little blessing the Lord gave me, I have found it difficult to keep a plan or schedule.

So, here is my so call plan as of now. I plan on walking at least 3 to 5 days a week around 3 to 4 miles, as well as incorporate something like aerobic activity once a day 3 to 5 days a week that is 30 to 45 minutes of activity weather it's weight training, wii fit, etc.. I am hoping that will help me drop weight quicker with lasting results, I just really need a breakthrough and if that Jillian Michaels Workout DVD works then I am game.

If it works please, whoever wins follow up and let me know. I have struggled with weight all my life, I was successful losing 40 lbs, had a baby, became a stay at home mom, and have found it so hard to take off a mere 10 lbs and keep it off. I have recently cut out soda's and started drinking more waters, and eating more fruit, salad and veggies in my diet. So I am hoping that the Lord will give me wisdom on what to eat, when to eat as well as what workout is best for me.

I pray that everyone who is trying to lose weight will be successful as well. I know I need your prayers for success as well. Good Luck and God Bless!

Oh, have any of you tried ZUMBA and if so does it work?

MrsFreeze ~ Hi! Thanks for sharing even though it was late. I appreciate it! =)

Just wanted to let you know that Zumba works WONDERS. I have been watching my weight since high school, and nothing has made me more successful than Zumba. I am simply having to quit b/c of money. It is amazing, though! You burn SOOO many calories each workout, it's a BLAST, and it goes by so quickly!

As far as the 30 Day Shred, I have done it before for 60 days. I lost 2 inches everywhere, and I felt GREAT. I felt toned, like nothing was hanging out anywhere. I didn't lose pounds, but it definitely helped. My friend at work looks amazing, and she did it from the 30 day shred. She has lost FOUR pant sizes! =)

Good luck!
