Super Savings Saturday: The New $35 Grocery Budget!

Well, the October $20 weekly grocery challenge has come to an end. If you missed it during the flurry of posts this morning, you can go HERE to read my reflection on the October grocery challenge: what we did with the extra $125, what we learned, and what we're changing.

Now on to November...

After an entire month of spending only $20 a week on groceries, we realized that we can reduce our $50/week grocery budget quite a bit. We have decided on $35 a week. So from here on out, we plan to spend only $35 each week on groceries, toiletries, and household supplies. This will include my weekly Publix and CVS runs, as well as the occasional Target, Walmart, and Walgreens runs.

So, this week for Super Savings Saturday...

Here's what I bought this week at Publix (pictured above):

1 bunch Bananas
1 bag Royal Gala Apples
1 Knox gelatin
1 bag Publix shredded Italian cheese
1 bag Publix frozen chopped spinach
1 yellow squash
4 zucchini squash
1 red bell pepper
1 lemon
1 bulb garlic
1 container Publix Riccotta cheese
1 can Enchilada sauce
2 Breyers ice cream
2 bags Green Giant vegetables
4 boxes Cheez-Its (our absolute favorite)
2 Breakstone sour creams
2 boxes Uncle Ben's rice
4 boxes Near East Couscous
2 loaves Arnold wheat bread
2 cans Muir Glen diced tomatoes
2 boxes Muellers whole wheat pasta
2 Birds Eye Steamfresh Meals for Two

Total Before Sales and Coupons: $93.54
Total saved from sales: $35.24
Manufacturer coupons used: $23.19
Store/Competitor coupons used: $8.00
Total amount saved: $66.43
Total paid after all sales and coupons: $27.11

*I also spent $2.93 at Walgreens on 8 tubes of Almay mascara and 2 greeting cards (and saved $59.96).

***With Publix and Walgreens combined, I spent a total of $30.04 this week! We're under our $35 budget this week!

November Totals:

1st week: $30.04

Total spent for month of November so far: $30.04
Total savings for month of November so far: $126.39

Does your family eat meat? I can't imagine only spending $35 per week. There are 5 in our family. We eat meat at most dinners and I send lunch with one of my kids EVERY DAY and the other 2 3 days a week....
