Supermarket Secrets: Part Four

Just a few final thoughts...

*Keep it simple in the beginning. Start by trying to save just a little. Don't get overwhelmed or burnt out. And do NOT compare your savings to others. Every family has different needs, a different budget, and a different amount of experience. This will only cause jealousy, bitterness, and a feeling of worthlessness. Trust me, I know. I've been there way too many times. Do what works best for you and your family.

*Shop every week. This allows you to hit every sale ad change. It also allows you to buy fresh produce that won't go bad.

*Find one store, and stick to it, especially in the beginning. I really want to recommend this. It keeps things really easy. Plus you will want to grab all of your free household, health, and beauty items for free with the drug store game every week (Walgreens or CVS). Between one grocery store and one or two drug stores, that's quite a lot to handle every week. So, do yourself a favor and stick with one grocery store for now.

*Always buy free or very cheap items, even if you don't need them. There is always somebody in need. This is a great way to feed the hungry and give to others without breaking the bank! At our house, we make a trip to the food bank every month. We feel the need and desire to share with others what God has so generously given us.

Now you can go to Supermarket Secrets: Part Five, to see my weekly grocery planning in action as an example.
